Let me tell you a short story that I have seen and heard countless times.
 
A player gets injured,
 
The injury is iced and compressed.
 
And 3 days later they decide its time for an appointment with the physio.
 
The physio advises they have a 2-4 week injury,
 
And provide the athlete with a sheet of paper with basic rehab exercises to perform.
 
(They aren’t personalised exercises, a generic rehab PDF)
 
The injured athlete performed the exercises for no more than a week…
 
…and they don’t want to go to the physio again, it was too expensive.
 
A week later they are back at training, telling the head coach they are good to go.
 
Over the next few weeks or a month, they injure themselves again.
 
Why? Because they aren’t provided with the support network an elite athlete is provided.
This is how the story should look:
 
Athlete is injured
 
Day 1: Appointment with the Physiotherapist to determine the extent of the injury.
 
Comprehensive strength testing is performed, to assess when the athlete is ready to return to sport.
 
Creation of a Return To Sport plan. (No generic Stick Figured PDF rehab program)
 
Week 1 until return to Sport: Weekly Physiotherapy assessments
 
2-3 supervised rehab sessions in a gym, not at home. Rehab exercises Progressions and regressions are provided in real-time.
 
Return to Sport: Reassessment of your strength testing using your previous baselines.
 
Post Injury: Improve your athletic ability, by following a program that makes you Stronger, Faster, Jumps higher, and more resilient
